- Identify the main conversational threads in the dialogue(below are examples).
- The first thread is about the upcoming Star Wars movie.
- The second thread is about what the two people are hoping to see in the movie.
- Write a brief summary of each conversational thread (below are examples).
- The first conversational thread is about the two people’s excitement for the new Star Wars movie. They both share their hopes for what the movie will be like.
- The second conversational thread is about the specific things that the two people are hoping to see in the movie. They both want to see a lot of action and adventure, as well as good character development.
Exercise 2: Creating Conversational Threads

- Choose a topic that you are interested in.
- Brainstorm a few questions that you could ask about the topic.

- Write a brief summary of each conversational thread.
